Tantrum- sin or barb?

Hi y'all. I'm returning to median after not having played since before MXL 2012. I'm a semi-experienced player so I know the basic game mechanics. When I stoped playing last time my last character was a half-finished tantrum barb. I've read that both sins and barbs make fairly good untwinked tantrum builds. Which one would you advice me to choose? (Or if you think that I would be far better off playing some other toon because they actually aren't viable as starters)

try a caster sorc

For me barb is better choice. Full vit or vit/str lion/kraken stance barb is better char for start. But barb have some ar trouble at begin. Asn is also good, she have more dmg at start (way of x) and she have a lot of avoid. It's your choice after all. Pick anything u like and go for it.

I actually started a cold/lightning sorc (currently lvl 92 in act 3 terror) with stf, tempest, warp armor, snow queen maxed out and ice elementals up to 25 summons. Mostly TUs and Thur runeword in T6 circlet. A2 exemplar merc with half upgraded TU gear. So I have been racking up a few shrines from running K3BA.

But I found this tantrum guide and though it would be appropriate to start off where I left sort of speak. Do you believe that a tantrum-user is way inferior to a caster sorc for getting some farming and charm-hunting going?

I was leaning towards a barb too, wolfs' doom makes for a great damage increase. Wolfstance until I can craft a decent krakenstance barbarian helmet. But on the other hand, avoid from PB and low timered-blink is a real life-saver sometimes. In addition I think that assassins have an advantage when it comes to end-game viable builds to respec to.

I still think a sorc is awesome to get some good amount of charms

Playing my soso until I can decide. Trying to craft a bow in the meantime? Any input to the debate on wheter short or long war bow is the better base items? If I remember correctly taking AS in consideration short war bow came out on top overall and tantrum uses attack speed and not cast rate right? despite that fact many guides recommend long war bow?!

like you said tantrumsin is more end game viable than tantrum barb also playstyle maybe seems easy but controlling tantrumsin is real pain indeed.
like rolls said, rolling caster sorc to obtain some chars and some early farming tran, k3k and terror fauzt for shrines is good option.. than you can craft gg bow for tantrum and start to play tantrumsin..
tantrumsin is also good at charm farming but you will never feel comfortable as caster sorc or tantrum barb.

Yeah I decided to keep progessing on my sorc, reached destruction ACT 1 and obtainded butchers tooth yesterday. Started leveling an assa on the side too and equipped her with ort-bow, just to get a feel of how the playstyle suits me.

I'm currently using TUs, honorific minions and player resist gloves and Thur-runeword in a T6 circlet. Any thoughts on suitable upgrades? I was thinking Yul-staff and On-sorceressarmor. Maybe Megalith boots and Kali gloves. Belt I think I'm keeping Aerin orbiter for a while. Would it be better to make the runewords in sacred base items to up the total defense or is that a waste of attribute points in order to meet the requirements? Zod-crafted jools in sockets would be best choice right? What should I concentrating on when mo'ing my jewelry besides reaching the obvious -100 (-199) lightning and cold enemy resist.

Also any thoughts on mid-game equpiment for merc? (TU's/Crafts/non-great rune runewords). Min-dam jewels or Ber-crafted in case I make him runewords?

Sin is badass with Tantrum and short timer blink but obviously she is a glass cannon in Destruction so, like everyone says, use a barb. I'm playing a Tantrum Barb right now with a tiered 2 luck trial ort runeword with lame damage  and I'm almost done with Act 4 Terror with only t6 jitan kamon and deadfall. Rest of the gear is an honorific and ith boots lol
