GS 4 UP UP UP UP

Okay gents (and gals?)

GS4 arriving sooner than anticipated! YAY!
...but... I have no idea what kinds of things benefit upload speed/heat/processing. U/l speed is most important.

So here's my request for advice. Check either amazon.com or Bestbuy.com (because I have bestbuy gift card and a prime membership) and scout out the most reasonable choice for a computer.

REQUIREMENTS:

A---I do not need and therefore do not want a monitor coming with the computer. (I have a very nice one already so its absolutely not needed)

B---$600-700 and under for price tag (Though if its 500-600 dollars I want more than one sentence explanation as I don't see why this would be so expensive...).

C--- PC only.

Ideally offer 2-3 suggestions from these 2 retailers (OR if you want think outside the 2 sites...can be pricier but who knows!).

Where do you live Will? I would check out used dealers in your area. If this is just to run the server on you could get a machine loaded with memory that is a few generations old for way less than you are budgeting there. I've got my eye on a Core Two duo based Super micro rack server (four procs and 12 gigs of ram) for 300 bucks.

(by far) most important thing for D2GS server is single thread CPU performance - that means best would be some Core-i7 or Core-i5 CPU (see comparism)
D2GS itself uses very little memory, just about 200MB

Really. I always found that D2--and Median--runs better on my older machines than my newer ones. But if anyone around here would know it would be the great and powerful aahz.

@GJ Really? Is there any difference in setup (From normal desktop) and can it be PC as I've used linux before and it takes a bit more time for me.

Also I live on Canadian border/mass.

@Aahz Okay for now using i7 (Did you get my email? or forum post?) and I will likely buy i5 or possibly quadcore i7 if the ones I like are still 449.
