----------Overview----------
The Slow-Bow Druid is a Bow Druid that focuses on using one of the best slow spreaders in the game - Nova Shot. With appropriate End-Game gear, 90% Slows Target is very reachable. It has high Crushing Blow for Boss encounters, 2 good crowd control damage skills, the best crowd control skill in the game (Charm), and minions. Towards end game, he will even have enough defense and life to survive a couple hits.

Pros:
~90% Slow makes seemingly impossible areas of the game possible!
Very high Crushing Blow (one of the best, if not THE best boss killing thing in Diablo 2)
Good Crowd Control
Minions
A Druid with Survivability!
Great farming character on most Uberlevels
Fairly Simple Playstyle

Cons:
Starts out extremely slow
No invincibility skill which is almost required for some Uberlevels
No teleport skill
Equipment-dependent character (although not dependent on rare end-game equipment)
One mistake usually means death, especially before you get Uberskills (which are all defensive for this character)
Not a Dragonzon

----------Skills----------
This guide assumes that you will (eventually) get +10 Maximum Skills from Ubercharms (5), challenges (4), and equipment(1) (no easy task). It also assumes that you will have 134 skill points to spend end game (119 from leveling, 12 from quests, 3 from skill signets)

Bow Tree
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 06-BlindsideBlindside 1 point
Fires 1 piercing arrow that randomly hones in on one enemy (its not actually random, but its not easy enough to predict so that you can compensate for it on the fly). It does have a ridiculous 10 second stun which can be very useful in a few parts of the game. With many points and +skills, it can be used to snipe enemies several screens away, but we don't have that many points to spare. 1 point, but a good player knows this skill has use throughout the game - including (but not limited to) solo enemies, tough enemies affected by stun, and choke points.
********************************************************************************************
Cascade 1 point
Our bow druid uses another crowd control skill that synergizes better with Nova Shot (and is indirectly buffed by the new monster density).
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 08-SporeShotSpore Shot 2 points
Fires 1 arrow at 3/4 damage which creates 2 arrows and retargets every time it hits an enemy (up to 4 times). In crowds, this means 1 arrow will actually hit several dozen times (and can hit the same monster more than once). The synergy from Nova Shot means you will have tons of arrows on the last split, but this bonus is usually not realized except in VERY large crowds. Even at 2 points this is a very effective skill, especially since it deals Physical Damage (we give it 2 points because we have 1 point left over and this is the best unmaxed place to put that point).
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 09-ElfinWeaponsElfin Weapons 37 points
Perhaps the skill that sets Bow Druid apart from other Bow Users. This skill gives you crazy amounts of passive Crushing Blow. Even though Crushing Blow from ranged weapons is at 1/2 strength from melee weapons, you'll have so much passive Crushing Blow from this skill, you will still be a great boss killer. Hard points (of which you can spend more than usual because of synergies) give you a ridiculous amount of damage (for all our skills). This skill gets uber-Maxed.
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 10-NovaShotNova Shot 28 points
Not only is this one of the best slow spreaders in the game (which is what this build is based on), but it makes a good crowd damaging skill. It does not require aiming (which is more useful than it sounds because you are dodging a lot with this build). It hits on all sides of you. You can use it while kiting/running away (you don't need to turn around). Its main drawbacks are its ridiculously high mana cost in the beginning (cost goes down with each skill point, but it will be practically unusable in the first 50 or so levels) and its 100% magic conversion, which makes it ineffective (except for slow spreading) against magic immunes. Even if this skill did no damage, it would be worth it for its ability to make the entire screen crawl. This is typically the best boss killing spell (unless the boss is in a big back of monsters) because you can focus on survival through mobility (that's why this build takes the slow route) rather than worrying about lining up a clear shot.
********************************************************************************************

Charm 1 Tree
Bow Druids don't morph, and they certainly don't want to be trees.

Charm 2 Tree
Bow Druids don't morph, and they certainly don't want to look like down syndrome rats.

Elemental Tree
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 18-PaganRitesPagan Rights 0 points (obtain from Ubercharm)
Ridiculously useful 1-point wonder skill. Not only because with 1 point and +skills it will nearly fill up your Health Globe every time, but because it will destroy all corpses on the ground. Shaman absolutely hate you for using this skill and it renders one of the hardest elites in the game (Firebloods) almost totally harmless. There are 3 charms that can randomly show up with this skill intact (Scroll of Kings, Sacred Worldstone Key, and Azmodan's Heart). I recommend you farming the first 2 for this skill - Azmodan is very hard without an invincibility or teleport skill. Until you find the charm, go ahead and use 3 points to get to this skill and just respec out of it later.
********************************************************************************************

Poison Tree
********************************************************************************************
Poison Flash 1 point
We are not a poison druid and we prefer to stay away from enemies. This does give a nice life bonus synergy to our minions, but we unfortunately don't have the points to spare.
********************************************************************************************
Charm 1 point
Best crowd control spell in the game. If you are not using this skill and having a difficult time with the enemies, you are not playing the Druid correctly. Even one point is a powerful weapon. Charm + Massive Slow + Minions/Reanimates will make you a better crowd controller than most builds end game.
********************************************************************************************
Plague Avatar 1 point
We are not a poison druid and have no use for the toxic avenger.
********************************************************************************************
Gamma Field 1 point
We are not a poison druid and although it would be nice to turn this annoying spell on the monsters for once, we don't have the points to do it.
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 25-SummonAcidFiendsSummon Acid Fiends 28 points
All by themselves, they will die fairly quickly. They do negligible damage and they aren't the best tanks. However, when you combine a whole pack of them with Massive slow and charm, they can keep everything away from you and they are the key to winning some of the Uberlevels and challenges in the game.
********************************************************************************************

Special Tree
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid 28-FaerieFireFairie Fire 1 point
1 point and +skills will give you 10%+ passive Avoid. Not bad at all. Don't underestimate the weird trail it leaves behind either - it will passively proc your crushing blow while kiting or running away. Unfortunately the %Avoid increases slowly and we don't have any more points to spare on this skill. Below I will discuss a method to get this around 20% Avoid for your single point!
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid GoodberryGoodberry 16 points
Finally, some defensive skills! Goodberry gives you a big boost in life (which in end game is one of the most important survival attributes) and passive life regen. The life regen isn't enormous and won't overcome burst damage, but its nice to have passive healing between battles and combat some of the crazy poison damage monsters can do end game.
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid LifeshieldLifeshield 16 points
Goodberries also give Total Defense% which is critical in the later parts of the game. For Druids, these two uberskills should be called by their real name...Druid crack.
********************************************************************************************
Inate Skills
********************************************************************************************
[1.E9] The Slow-Bow Druid IN-MarkoftheWildMark of the Wild 0 points (Innate)
Free damage - why not use it?
********************************************************************************************

Stats:
(A total of 1110 stat points are obtainable to spend (although it will take forever to accumulate that much. 595 are obtained through leveling, 15 through quests, and 500 through signets of learning (this will take forever to farm))

Strength: Enough for gear (all gear is strength related) and then the rest after satisfying AR
Dexterity: Enough for 95% Attack Rating on almost everything
Vitality: None
Energy: None

----------Equipment----------
In the beginning...
Suggestions about specific equipment choices can be found in the walkthrough below. In the beginning portions of the game, Slows Target isn't important because you won't have access to enough of it to really make a difference. Just go for damage, damage, damage. Get 75% resist as soon as possible and keep it there always. Keep all practical MO's you find (notes about which ones to keep are below). Keep your attack rating high. Expect to die more often than other builds early in the game. For armor, make defense and survivability your priority.

An important note about slow
Since this build is based on Slow, you should know how it works. The kind of Slow we are using is "Slows Target". There are other types of slow like Slows Attacker and Slows Ranged Attacker. These overwrite each other so you can NEVER have any amount of any other slow on your gear besides "Slows Target". Slow caps at 90% for 1 source of slow and 95% for 2 sources. This basically means its a waste of your time and equipment space to put any more than 90% total Slows Target on your equipment. You can get 95% slow if you have any sources of cold damage on your weapon (the more cold damage, the more likely you are to chill). Bosses are capped at 50% Slow

Pre-Ubers Equipment
Bow:
Vipercast Serpent Bow Damage: (252-279) to (491-553) Req. Strength/Level: 431 / 53
50% Chance to cast level 35 Venomous Spirit when you Kill an Enemy
+(181 to 210)% Enhanced damage
+(171 to 200) to Maximum Damage
(23 to 26)% Life stolen per Hit
+(46 to 50)% to Poison Spell Damage
Slows Target by (36 to 40)% (+6 Zods = 66 to 70%)
(31 to 35)% Bonus to Strength
(27 to 30)% Chance of Uninterruptable Attack
(Note: This is THE midgame option for this build. Don't make the mistake of getting a Thorn Branch Recursive Bow...Slows Attacker is not the same thing as Slows Target).

Quiver:
Just use the best Quiver you find. None of the midgame quivers are that powerful. In fact, the lucky bonus roll is better than the attributes you'll find on the unique and rare quivers, so use a quiver which you get a good Lucky roll on.

Armor:
Jitan's Kamon Splint Mail Defense: (2170-4307) Req. Strength/Level: 391 / 49
100% Chance to cast level 42 Singularity when you Die

(18 to 20)% Chance of Open Wounds
+(131 to 150)% Enhanced Defense
+(31 to 35) to Dexterity
+(351 to 400) Maximum Stamina
(Note: These gloves really help with Attack Speed and Attack Rating, 2 areas the Druid lacks)

Boots:

Zealot Rush Light Plated Boots Defense: (863-1235) Req. Strength/Level: 385 / 50
15% Faster Run/Walk
15% Increased Attack Speed
(86 to 100)% Bonus to Attack Rating
+(131 to 150)% Enhanced Defense
(18 to 20)% Bonus to Dexterity
(11 to 12)% Reanimate as: Dark Templar

Rings and Ammys:
Since you can't create them with the unique recipe (you can, but its a crap shoot), just use the best ones you find. Remember that the lucky recipe on amulets can add a +1 skills affix.

Other Notables:
Pax Mystica Runeword (Nef [13] + Staff)
+1 to All Skills
All Resists +(11 to 15)%
(21 to 25)% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Level 1 Blink (20 Charges)
(Note: Your only source of Teleport for a long time)

Zod Runes
Each one socketed in your weapon gives an additional +5% Slows Target. So 6 gives you an additional 30% Slows Target!

Mystic Orbs
Commonly dropped throughout the game. Some are more helpful than others. I recommend saving these: Poison Length Reduced, Crushing Blow, Attack Rating, Reanimate as Fallen One, -Requirements, Faster Run/Walk, Fire/Cold/Lit/Poison resist, Curse Reduced, Enhanced Defense, Total Character Defense, Crafting Points, %Thunder Hammer on kill, Summoned Minion Resistance

End-game Equipment
Set:
One good option is the Caoi Dulra Druid Bow Set. It may or may not be the best option.

100% Bonus to Attack Rating
+(6-7) to Druid Skill Levels
Enhanced Weapon Damage +150%

Adds 1000-2000 cold damage

All Resists +(71 to 90)%
Increase Maximum Life 10%
(21 to 30)% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items

+(31 to 50) to Dexterity
Fire Resist +(21 to 25)%
+(101 to 150) Life after each Demon Kill
(Note: Its not the best option, but since bosses are capped at 50% slow, and the Bloodstar Proc is insane, it makes a good boss option until you find one of the better, and rarer bows).

Magma Spitter Serpent Bow Damage: (427-497) to (752-875) Req. Strength/Level: 555 / 100

Slows Target by (21 to 25)% (+6 Zods = 51 to 55%)
(21 to 25)% Bonus to Strength
+(51 to 75) to Strength
(Note: Better than your T6 Unique bow even though it has 15% less Slow.).

Fiacla-Gear's Wisdom Recurve Bow Damage: (697-774) to (946-1030) Req. Strength/Level: 632 / 100
+(3 to 5) to Druid Skill Levels
+(251 to 300)% Enhanced damage
40% Increased Attack Speed
100% Faster Hit Recovery
Adds 150-350 damage
Adds 2000-2500 fire damage
Adds 2000-2500 cold damage
Slows Target by (31 to 40)% (+6 Zods = 61 to 70%)
-25% Less Gold from Monsters
Reduces all Vendor Prices (11 to 15)%
(Note: Hands down the best bow. If you get this one, add 10 +1% CB Orbs immediately! This will be your endgame weapon unless you go the Caoi Dulra Set route).

Quiver:
Kingsport's Signals Arrow Quivers Required Level: 120
2% Chance to cast level 8 Rain of Bombs on Striking
+1 to All Skills
+(11 to 15) to all Attributes
Increase Maximum Life (3 to 5)%
+5 to Light Radius

Weapon Switch:
Crafted Flamen Staff
Some of the later Ubers are ridiculously tough and nearly impossible for Druids to do, even with our massive slow. However, we still have a trick up our sleeves. On weapon switch, you will want to get a Druid Staff with a +12 skills modifier (or as close as you can get). If you really have patience, you may want to try to craft and bless such a staff with Magical Shrines (+Minion Life and Resistances). The way the engine works is this - if you switch to the staff and eat your Goodberry, cast Fairie Fire, and cast your minions, you can switch back to your bow and your buff from Goodberry and Fairie Fire will remain as if you had the +12 skills from the staff always equipped! Your minions will retain the stats they had with the +12 buff as well as any Minion Resistance/Life affixes from the staff (Minions can use up to 50% Elemental Resistances). Although they retain the improved stats, if you try to summon more minions than you could have out with the bow and arrows, the extra minions will vanish.

To add onto this trick, if you drink an Elixir of Power during this time (+15 skills for a very brief period of time), you could end up with a Goodberry, Fairie Fire, and Acid Fiends effect at +27 what you would normally have with your bow and arrows equipped! You can use this trick to boost your life and defense to a high enough level to withstand some of the more difficult Ubers (Bremmtown, etc.) or give your minions the ability to take more than a few shots (Judgement Day bonus, etc.). Finally, socket your switch staff with Nih's (10% Buff Duration) to increase the duration of your Faerie Fire.

Thanks stardragon12-1-8-27-57-52 for the suggestion.
