You most likely will not. However you should still play now, you prolly have 3-4 months until update is released which is enough time to get your fill.

Characters will be compatible with next patches for EVERY ultimative version.

The next global wipe will happen with sigma, in who knows how many years.

So now we have 3 months to jerk off to the upcoming version.

well with new tree structure, there's most likely going to be - 1 tab for uber/challenge skills, and 2 tabs with 3 trees each

in case of pally one tab for each devotion (holy/unholy)

Whatever happens, we will sure like it!

I agree with rune bags, maybe even gem bags...
I believe Scrabble mod had that system, right?
Don't know if it's easy to do or not, but if it doesn't take a lot of time, it would sure as hell save us some stash space
