Median XL For Dummies v2

I have split up the guide to 2 post now so it is much easier to track the post + update the guide.

On first post, I have add symptom for 5 gamer elements and expanded power level section.

Right now im playing my druid again so i could edit general gameplay guide rapidly.
2nd post havent update much, some tips, but i cant leave it empty for long time.

Try give mephisto / nihlahtak run a try. It should help you powerlevel up tremendously.

1) check docs for usefull runewords.. before you can craft or get some sets/su's.
2) if you lack str or other stats
- orb you ring/amulet with str
- make honorofic item to orb it until 60 str..
- socket your items with pgems that gives stats or ko runes
- you can also use -req jewels in items
- also there are -req orb in npcs

3) try to get some easy stat %stats charms asap.

when you solve str problem, try make crafts asap... for shrines terror fauzt, terror cow... well if you cant farm there, farm anywhere else in terror act4,5..

well now, t6 gears and runewords are your best friends imo. wear them and get those stats charm is fastest solution to you...

Don't take it bad... but honestly a few lookup in documentation will do you good.
You don't need to 'farm' anything, you can start with tiered unique items. Look up documentation, and go for example to -> boots. There are 5 choices here, so it shouldn't be that hard. Lionpaw or Death Spur. Lionpaw gives lesser stats but it gives also health. Make your choice. Next step, check belts for example. Again 5 choices, you seek strength, and you find deadfall. Now, gloves, there is only one giving such stats, police verso. See? it is not that hard. Tier 6 version might cost around 400 strength and can be quite much. Use a lower tier and problem solved.

You need to have such mentality, you can also check runes for example, Tal giving +5 all attributes. I don't know. It is kind of hard to explain how to get better attributes as it is usually something the player discovers by himself by doing some lookup in the documentation. You can always go and try an unholy paladin and use Stormlord to give you stats if equipping gear is giving you a headache.

If you still have problems with equipping gear you might want to choose a build that isn't heavily dependant on defense/damage from items, for example a summoner necromancer. You can pretty much get really far just by using skills. You might notice your minions die, because you don't equip "minion resistance" stat on gear, for example. How are you supposed to do that? You go into newbie forum and find a thread called LFAQ. You will find a lot of info there.

Lol if players were capable of doing what you said macro we would no longer need the guide section and short answers section

On-topic: maybe you could really emphasize how to obtain information individually before posting questions on forums for your guide squall.

Well, he didn't even tell the build he was playing, what else can I say other than... reading docs? And summoner necro noobproof build is always effective in 99% of the d2 mods.

In fact, I have a reanimator necro, I posted a SS on SS thread yesterday, and then you (@Marco) posted your necro and in my mind I was like the Okay Guy.

About the necro, right now I'm focusing my stats on Str (for future equip) and Vit (for survival) and I'm level 80-something in act 3 Terror. I don't have (many) problems going on with the game per se (game quests, that is), I'm a bit worried with uber quests (summoning, dungeons and ubers). I had to take the Sunstone of Elements (fully upgraded) from another char, same thing for the class charm. I don't even try to do the black road challenge, my char explodes by the time I even think to do that.

I can say this for every char I make (I got about 10 chars) not just the reanim necro. My bowzon can do the easiest ones with a good amount of effort and a sh*tload of deaths, but that's it. I've seen videos of players owning ubers with little to no effort, and every time I wonder how the heck they do that.

I have the docs btw and I dig them, but not enough maybe.

I like this mod A LOT, and I'd like to be good at it.

Well, cross-character playing is definetly the most efficient way to beat the game, at least before you can control assassin good enough to beat everything with her

Reanimator is not noob-friendly and required specific weapon setup(great runes RW and SSU).

You pretty much playing once of hardest necro, without good skill setup you will bound to fail.
Share your skill build here, and we will try to help.

Summoner necro is easiest build even in whole median in leveling up to 120.
But since you still lvl 80, i can only recommend you to level up first.

Well, here's my reanimator necro:

Lv 95 (yes, before i was wrong about the lvl..)

Skills (without bonuses):

- frostclaw totem 17pt

- talon's hold 14pt

Equip:
Weapon: Lemuria RW (t4 raptor scythe + lem rune, for reanimates)
Helm: t2 Stillwater unique
Armor: t4 rare with +2 all skills (def: 924)
Amulet: rare with +1 all skills
Ring1: rare with +1 all skills
Ring2: rare random stuff
Belt + Gloves: crappy rare
Boots: t2 Zealot Rush unique

Charms:
LC0 Harkon Crystal
Sunstone of the Elements (fully upgraded)
Class charm (ennead challenge only)
Char Orb with 30% AllRes, +25 Replenish Life, 10% Skeleton reanimates, Blink

Stats (with bonuses):
Str: 302
Dex: 108
Vit: 295
Ene: 44

Resists (with bonuses):
Fire: 57
Cold: 26
Lightning: 10
Poison: 68

That's all.
